When the training is done and race day arrives, here are our top tips and things to remember to see you around the course:
You won’t get in without them! Get ready to flash your ID at check-in, alongside your QR code, which will be scanned on arrival.
Government ID will be needed — no work passes — and your QR code can be found in your confirmation email. To find it, search “Registration confirmation for Vanguard Tough Mudder 2026”.
This contains EVERYTHING you need to know about your Vanguard Tough Mudder event: start times, what’s in the village, obstacle and course highlights and all the FAQs.
You can access this by logging into your Tough Mudder event using your professional email address.
This is the UK and, although that normally means grey skies and rain, sometimes the weather can be as unpredictable as Shocking Volatility.
Check the weather for RH12 4SE the night before. If it’s cold and raining, you’ll need extra layers – for during and afterwards – and extra carrier bags. But if, by some miracle, it’s looking sunny, make sure you’re slapping on that high-factor sun cream, bringing the sunnies and packing plenty of water.
Seriously, sunburn clashes with the red headband.

No matter what happens, you’ll be muddy. Bring a clean set of clothes and a towel to dry yourself off after the hose down (yes, the hose down).
And if you still haven’t prepped your event day gear, then don’t forget to check out Tough Mudder’s advice on the best kit to wear on course: Tough Mudder Style Guide.
Similarly to the night before, priming the body with carbohydrates at breakfast is one way to ensure your performance does not suffer during the day.
Stick to breakfast meals and products you have used in the build-up to The Vanguard Tough Mudder Takeover. Porridge, toast, cereal, bagels and fruit juice are all great choices.
Believe it or not, the most common question at Tough Mudder’s Information Desk is whether there are any spare plastic bags.
We don’t want the plastic, so we’ve got you a spare bag at the finish line.
If you are coming with a team, pick a point to meet in case you get separated throughout the day. Of course, you’ll take on the course together, but once you’ve got your headband and people start disappearing off to get changed, find food and drink, or buy some sweet event-day merch, it’s easy to lose track.
Plus, with so many people in one place – and the fact that Tough Mudder takes place in a big old field – don’t expect much signal.
So pick a spot and agree with everyone that, if you get split up, that’s where you’ll reconvene. ‘The Vanguard Village’ makes the most sense.
Eat a meal you enjoy, this is a celebration.
The meal should be rich in carbohydrates to top up those stores in the body, which are likely to be pretty low after completing the course. There will be plenty to choose from on the day, so enjoy something special on us.
Enjoy the day – this is meant to be fun!
