Neil Cowell is head of UK intermediary distribution. He and his team have responsibility for developing and increasing Vanguard's UK distribution through financial advisers, life companies, discretionary fund managers and strategic partners.
Neil joined Vanguard from Standard Life where he was a member of the UK distribution board. He has a broad experience of distribution in both the financial adviser and the financial institutions sectors and has held senior management roles in both areas.
Tania Allerton is a national sales manager for intermediary sales, leading a team of eight business development managers serving advisory businesses across the UK.
Tania has worked in the financial services industry for over 20 years. After graduating, she started her career as a broker consultant with Aegon before moving into the investment sales arena with some of the industry’s top names, including F&C, AVIVA and BNY Mellon.
Her journey with Vanguard started in 2012 when she was recruited as the business development manager for the North East.
Matthew Hendy is responsible for business development relationships in the Midlands and Wales region. He has over 15 years’ experience in financial services before joining Vanguard in 2012.
Tom Hobbs is responsible for business development with financial planners in South West England. Tom has more than 13 years’ industry experience in both intermediary sales and as a financial adviser. Tom is also a chartered member of the CISI.
Perry Marsden is responsible for business development with financial planners in London and the South East of England. He has previously worked in intermediary related roles with other major asset managers and platforms.
Andrew Walker is responsible for business development relationships in the East Midlands and East Anglia. He has over 20 years’ industry experience in both intermediary sales and as an adviser.
Alex Wheelan is responsible for business development with financial planners in the North West of England. Alex has more than 12 years of intermediary sales experience working previously with major life offices and wealth management companies.
Craig Young is responsible for our relationships with financial planners in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Before joining Vanguard, Craig worked in intermediary sales for major life offices within the central belt of Scotland for more than 20 years.
Gemma Brushett is responsible for supporting business development managers and financial planners in the Midlands and South West of England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. She has previously worked in client services at a leading platform provider, providing support to both financial planners and retail clients.
Peter Engstrom is the manager of the London office based sales team. He also acts as intermediary between the internal and external sales teams to provide the best possible distribution and support to financial planners. Peter has been with Vanguard in the UK since launch in summer 2009.
Scott Atkinson is responsible for managing relationships with financial planners in the North East and North West. Before joining Vanguard in 2014, Scott started his career as a broker consultant for a life company in 2008 holding various sales positions. He has obtained the CII Diploma in Financial Planning, CFA Investment Management Certificate and is currently working towards the CISI Private Client Investment Advice and Management.
Matthew Haigh is responsible for business development and relationship management with financial planners in the South West and West Midlands. He has previously worked for a large advisory firm.
Kate McKeogh is responsible for business development and relationship management with financial planners in London and the South East. Kate previously worked in investment management recruitment. She graduated with a Masters from Smurfit Business School, MSc. HRM and an undergraduate degree in Commerce from University College Cork.
Oli Wallis is responsible for business development and relationship management with financial planners in Scotland, Northern Ireland, East Anglia, East Midlands, as well as parts of Hertfordshire and the North East. He has previously worked for a large American bank.
David Plumstead is responsible for establishing and developing Vanguard’s relationships with insurance companies, pension providers and charities. David joined Vanguard in July 2009 and has over 30 years of industry experience. He previously worked for a leading UK insurance company for 22 years, holding a number of senior positions including area manager for London city, head of the specialist investment team and member of the UK sales leadership team.
James Stewart is responsible for business development with insurance companies in the UK. James has worked closely with large institutions as well as financial planners since joining Vanguard at launch in the summer of 2009. Before joining Vanguard, James gained a broad experience and understanding of financial services through positions in life companies and index providers as well as in the currency markets.
Ben Burton works within the insurance company distribution team as an analyst and point of contact. Ben has been with Vanguard for two years, previously holding a role in the adviser sales team. Ben holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and prior to working for Vanguard he worked for a family wealth office in a research capacity.
Discretionary fund managers
Matthew Abouzeid is responsible for business development with financial planners in London. Matthew has had a successful career in financial services working in intermediary relations with major asset management companies over the last eight years.
Joe Blackburn is responsible for business development and relationship management with financial planners in the East Midlands. He previously worked in intermediary related roles with other global asset managers and as a paraplanner.
Freddie Pendarves is a sales analyst supporting Roy Wilkinson and Ben Nightingale in the strategic accounts team and Matthew Abouzeid and Joe Blackburn in the discretionary fund managers team. He has previously worked as an analyst in Bogota, Colombia for a family office.
Ben Nightingale is responsible for managing the relationships with large advisory distributors and other key strategic partners. He joined Vanguard in January 2016 and has a successful background in key account management.
Roy Wilkinson is responsible for managing the relationships with large advisory distributors and other key strategic partners. He has 15 years' experience in financial services with 5 years' experience in key account management.
Specialist sales – low-cost active
Andrew Surrey is a senior national development manager, where he is responsible for the growth in Vanguard’s range of low-cost active funds. Passionate about the delivery of insight into Vanguard’s fund range, Andrew works closely with fund management and marketing teams to develop sales messaging and presentations that build on Vanguard's research and thought leadership capabilities. Before joining Vanguard in April 2014, Andrew held senior management positions within wealth management, custodial and fund management groups.
Janine Menasakanian heads up Vanguard's relationships with global banks, asset managers, hedge funds and family offices.
She joined Vanguard from MetLife where she spent five years in a similar role. She has over 20 years' industry experience, having joined Friends Provident as a graduate trainee, progressing to various management positions. She has also worked with a large national advisory firm in roles as varied as head of eBusiness development to head of provider liaison and research. Janine is also actively involved in the Women's Initiative for Leadership Success committee at Vanguard.

Josh Gibbs is a Senior Business Development Manager. He has almost 20 years' experience in Investment Banking having built a career in credit sales at institutions like Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers and UBS. He has covered a variety of clients ranging from banks, Real Money and most recently the hedge fund community, selling credit in structured, derivative and in vanilla format.

Koen Hoogenhout is a senior business development manager focusing on UK and global banks. He joined Vanguard in 2011 in Amsterdam, where he looked after banking relationships in The Netherlands and both intermediary and institutional relations in Belgium, Luxembourg and the Nordics. Prior to joining Vanguard, Koen worked for ABN AMRO for seven years in private banking and asset management roles and spent three years as a senior sales manager at AXA Investment Managers. He holds a master’s degree in International Tax Law from Rijks Universiteit Groningen.

Peter Wozniak is a sales analyst. He joined Vanguard in December 2015 and focuses on and co-ordinates activity for global banking relationships across the International division. Peter has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Warwick and holds the IMC.
