Throughout history, technological advancements have been the catalyst for transformation across all aspects of life. From the Neolithic Revolution to the Information Age, it is clear that these advancements can have profound socioeconomic, cultural and political impacts. In our latest research, we examine the role that automation will play in the future of work. While some researchers predict a massive decrease in jobs for the US labour market as machines replace humans, we are not that pessimistic. In our analysis of nearly 1,000 occupations, we found that the tasks involved with specific jobs have shifted from basic and repetitive to more advanced, and we expect this trend to continue. Jobs will not disappear, they will evolve.
