Presenter bios

Neil Cowell, Head of Retail Sales, Vanguard Asset Management

Neil is the Head of Retail Sales. His team have responsibility for developing and increasing Vanguard's UK distribution through IFAs, Wealth Managers and other key business partners. Neil joined Vanguard from Standard Life where he was a member of the UK Distribution Board. He has a broad experience of distribution in both the IFA sector and the Bank and Wealth Manager sector and has held senior management roles in both areas.


Dr Peter Westaway, Chief Economist, Europe, Vanguard Asset Management

Dr. Westaway is chief economist for Vanguard Asset Management, Limited, Vanguard’s European entity. He meets with clients and writes articles to provide Vanguard’s perspective on economic issues and longer-term investment strategy implications. Dr. Westaway was previously chief economist, Europe, for Nomura International and a senior official at the Bank of England. Dr. Westaway earned a Ph.D. in economics, a Master of Philosophy in control engineering and operational research from the University of Cambridge, and a B.S. in mathematics and economics from the University of York. He is a visiting professor at Queen Mary College, London.


Todd Schlanger, CFA, Investment Analyst, Vanguard Asset Management

Todd is an investment analyst in Vanguard Investment Strategy Group, where his responsibilities include research on the capital markets, portfolio construction and design, and investment market commentary. He has co-authored research covering a broad range of topics, including stock market volatility, passive investing, active management, emerging market bonds, and nonprofit portfolio management. Before his current role, he spent five years in Vanguard Institutional Investor Group, most recently as a member of Vanguard Institutional Advisory Services®. He earned a B.S. in business administration from The University of Scranton and is a CFA® charterholder.
